The Power of Collaboration: SALIVA and Austin John Winkler's Emotional Journey
In a thrilling turn of events, SALIVA, the iconic rock band, has teamed up with the legendary Austin John Winkler, former frontman of HINDER, to release an explosive new single titled 'Too Broke To Fix'. This collaboration, unveiled on October 17, 2025, is a testament to the raw and unfiltered emotions that rock music can evoke.
But here's where it gets controversial... or rather, emotionally charged.
SALIVA's vocalist, Bobby Amaru, sheds light on the song's profound meaning, stating, "'Too Broke To Fix' delves into the intricate world of mental health, identity, and the constant battle for control. It's a raw portrayal of masking pain, feeling lost, and seeking purpose amidst chaos." Amaru further emphasizes the impact of Winkler's involvement, praising his unique vocal style and the intense energy he brings to the track.
Winkler, known for his powerful vocals, shares his immediate connection with the song, revealing, "The title alone resonated deeply with me, as I've felt that way numerous times in my life. When I heard the opening guitar riff, I was all in! Collaborating with Bobby was an incredible experience, and I believe our voices perfectly capture the raw essence of the song's message."
And this is the part most people miss... SALIVA's journey has been an evolution of sound and style. Starting with their breakthrough album 'Every Six Seconds' in 2001, which sold over two million copies and featured hits like 'Click Click Boom' and 'Your Disease', the band has consistently delivered anthemic rock anthems. Despite changes in vocalists, with Josey Scott's departure in 2011, Amaru brought a fresh contemporary feel while honoring the band's blue-collar roots.
However, tragedy struck shortly before the release of their most recent album. SALIVA's guitarist, Wayne Swinny, passed away unexpectedly. The band dedicated the 'Come Back Stronger' video to their fallen bandmate, and the album received critical acclaim, with singles 'Crows' and 'High On Me' charting in the Top 20 on Billboard's Active Rock chart. The band continues to pay tribute to "Uncle Wayne" at every live performance.
To celebrate the release of their new deluxe album, 'Revelation: Retold', SALIVA dropped a music video for 'Horizon' featuring Kevin Martin of CANDLEBOX. The video is a heartfelt tribute to their musical legacy, showcasing never-before-seen footage of Swinny on stage and in the studio. The album is available on Judge & Jury Records, a renowned label founded by multi-platinum producer Howard Benson and Neil Sanderson of THREE DAYS GRACE.
SALIVA's current lineup includes Bobby Amaru (vocals), Brad Stewart (bass), Josh Kulack (guitar), Sebastian LaBar (guitar), and Sammi Jo Bishop (drums).
So, what do you think? Is this collaboration a powerful statement on mental health and resilience? Or is it just another rock anthem? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
