Discipleship 2017-03-25T12:39:28+00:00

We at Northminster take seriously Jesus’ great commission in Matthew 28:18-20

And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore and make DISCIPLES of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.  And remember I am with you always, to the end of the age.’     (Matt. 28:18-20 NRSV)

The life of discipleship is more that just getting the information right, it is about living a transformed life.  Jesus commissions his disciples to go out and make more disciples.  Growing in our own discipleship means we should be encouraging others as well!  Below are just a few examples of how we do this.

Adult Discipleship

We frequently alternate our adult curriculum.  The focus is always growing as disciples of Jesus.  This may be through Bible study or a topical study, such as prayer or other spiritual practices.  The courses are usually a couple of months long.  We meet Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in the multi-purpose room.  There is always plenty of coffee and plenty of room.  We hope you will join us!

Children’s Discipleship – Sunday School

Sunday School at Northminster is a fun way to learn how to embrace the love of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ. On Sunday mornings you might find us in studious examination of the life of a young Jesus. Or you might just find us outside, collecting flowers and leaves to make a collage of God’s blessings. We believe in teaching our children about love, sharing, gratitude and how our Faith can guide us for our entire lives.

The classes are split up into several groups:

3 Year Old – Kindergarten

First – Third Grade

Fourth – Seventh Grade

Eighth Grade-High School.

Nursery

Discipleship begins with our littlest of children.  It is to such as these that the kingdom belongs!  So we offer a nursery filled with love and care for infants through Kindergarteners during the Sunday School hour and worship.

Vacation Bible School – VBS

Vacation Bible School is an event all of Northminster looks forward to. It’s a whole-church event in the height of summer filled with games, new friends and a fun-filled way to learn about the love of God and the protection of Jesus Christ. We learned that God is with us, God is powerful, God does what he says he’ll do, God gives us life and God cares for us!

Watch the newsletter for information about VBS! And be a volunteer!
